I just wanted to say hello to you guys.  I have been watching Bob's videos for a very long time and finally took the plunge because I am sick and tired of paying rent to someone else, and being treated like crap by the apartment staff and property management companies, want to start saving money, AND I want to be able to travel eventually.

Sooo... one week ago yesterday (Saturday), I bought myself a 2016 Ford Transit Cargo Van - High Roof - Extended Wheel Base!!

I have already started getting it ready for van life.

I have installed bubble wrap for dead air space as well as my reflectix pretty much on the whole cargo portion of the van.

Next week, I will begin on the plywood floor and see how far I get before my lease is up in July.  It would be nice to be able to put up the walls, but if not, it will be livable and comfortable until I can get the walls done.

I am trying to do this all myself, because I live so far away from family, but I will probably need help from a friend when I go back home, in order to put the ceiling wall panel up.

Anyway, I just wanted to say give a big thank you so far to Bob Wells and to a member of this site "Almost There" who's build and suggestions I am trying to emulate as closely as possible.  You both have been a big help in me getting this started.

I hope y'all have a wonderful day and I'll definitely be posting more about my journey here.

Love the screen name...

Great start on a new rig...low mileage I would assume...

I'm guessing the salesman, or whoever, raised an eyebrow but maybe not...they know some of us are doing this.

Let us know how it goes.

Welcome to the CRVL Forums   :)

I'm sure you'll be an inspiration to many here.   One for your purchasing a Van and two for being able to flip the bird at an annoying Landlord.

Let me invite you to check out my Van Conversion website below.  If there are any ideas in it you can use, you're welcome to them.   It's for a basic build to get a person on the road without a lot of pre-prep.   You can always add to your rig when in camp as you travel after you have basics necessary to travel with.

The lower site is a portal of handy info to have at hand.  Either before leaving to  chart a plan of travel or to use when under way to find whatever you need to add to your comfort.

All the best !

Thank you so much on liking my screen name! The mileage on the 2016 is 22,000 miles.  I looked at many medium roofs, but this is the one I liked better. The salesman probably had an inkling. lol  Anyway thank you for the warm welcome.

Haha! I hope I'm an inspiration. All of you living the life are truly an inspiration to me. And yes, those landlords will not be getting my money anymore!

I will definitely take a look at your link.  Thanks for the suggestion. :)

Welcome aboard Vanonymous!
(Boy , spellcheck loved that one)

I hear ya about people that are getting your money treating you less than "Right".

I say a big F 'em , leave 'em in your dust and get that van out in some America!

Welcome and congrats, Vanonymous!! Are you going to leave the tag on Minnie Pearl? Looking forward to seeing pics!

Hey there, AbuelaLoca,

Hahaha!! Yessssssss I am gonna leave the tag on Minnie Pearl! :p It adds pizzazz!

I'll be sure and post some pics of her. I finally got the reflectix up in her yesterday, but had some dental work today, so didn't get to work on her today. Maybe tomorrow. I'd love to show you guys my progress!! I've been taking pics throughout the last week of work since I bought her.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. :)
