I was at the rv show about 4 years ago. boy it's huge. the rock and mineral show is cool too but a little to commercialized for me. the swap meet is pretty cool too. to cover all the shows and swap meet you need several days. highdesertranger

I call Bull$hit!!! All The RV parks had vacancies last year. The powers that be in Quartzsite have out taxed a lot of the businesses. The swapmeet was half empty and the traffic wasn't near as bad as in previous years.

The article was in a business magazine so they obviously want to bring vendors to their location.
In a positive vein I am happy to see such social/cultural activity between people who are dispersed the rest of the year.

It was huge four years ago. but has gone steadily down hill since then.

Not that's a bad thing. I don't miss the traffic. But I do feel bad for the business owners and vendors.

you know Cyndi you are probably right. when I was talking to some of the vendors in the swap meet area they where grumbling about the space rent being raised every year and the cost they were being charged for electricity. one that I can remember said this was going to be their last year. boy they take a good thing and tax it to death. highdesertranger

I talked to several vendors and RVers who said it was their last year.
There were spaces empty in nearly every RV park...including the one where we hosted. We were actually cut loose due to business being so slow. (gave us more time to look around)

There were no traffic jams like I remember in the past. La Mesa Rv (the largest dealer) cut their staff in half. Main Market was down to $200/mo, with full hook-ups. And, Q raised the cost of vendor permits.

All that said...it was still fun to look around and I found some damn good deals on stuff I needed/wanted.
Made a few new friends as well
Will be going back this year for part of the season, including the RTR.
