Hello all! I have been watching the youtube videos for a few months now. I made the decision to retire early, sell everything, buy a van and get on the road. It is exciting! Is anyone else making plans to do the same? Or are you already out there?

Welcome americanspirit to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

That a great idea Americanspirit! I had the same idea too, but I'm not quite there yet.
Welcome to the forum, great to have you here!

Welcome to the forum American spirit. I’ve been on the road full time since June 1 But Many years before that as a part timer. I’m hoping to fly to Florida this winter so you can call me an East Coast Snowbird. What region are you in and what region are you headed for? Do you have a vehicle in mind yet and have any camping experience? Many of us will be interested in hearing your story and seeing your rig if you have pictures. Wishing you the best as you make this change. Sure is quite a time of change in this country isn’t it? Or I should say in this world. God bless the nomads beginners and old-timers.

I have the same retirement plans, but need to work a couple more years. Then look out! I will be in FL Nov-Mar and in the NE the rest of the year.

A year ago at this time it was very much in my plans.   Then came Corona.  I had found a job as a crew cook on the river where I'd be on a month and off a month.   In the months off I planned to sell off a bunch of stuff and prep the house for sale, find a buyer, get my rig in shape to hit the road.

So with Corona I'm a year behind.  So I've been working on the place to get big items in line so they won't be so much to do later if Corona "just disappears" like I hear it will.

I am in Ohio at the moment. I plan on heading to North Carolina first to see my daughter and grandkids, then to Michigan to see other daughter and grandkids. then to Colorado to see my son and grandkids. They all are part of the reason I have made this decision. Working and trying to visit them is a challenge.  I am looking at buying a property in North Carolina for a "Home Base". The plan is to have it open to other nomads to have a place to land for a short time I initially thought of buying a van and making it home. I have a Nissan Xterra that I really like. My plans have changed a bit. I am going to use my Xterra to go to North Carolina. The van idea is great but, once I get to NC, I want to be able to take my daughter and grandkids out places in my vehicle. The van wouldnt have proper seating. The Xterra backs seat lays flat. When they are with me I can readjust the living quarters and raise the seats back up. I have camped in the past, it has been a few years though. The insanity of the world also helped make my decision. I have wanted to do this for years, yet working and raising my kids and living as the world does- Being a consumer, made me delay. I hadnt considered going out on my own either. A few weeks back as a video popped up from Bob, it hit me, why not retire early and do it now! That set it in motion.  I called my daughter and told her my plan. My dog is old and not well, if I still have her I will be bringing her with me, she is always welcomed at my kids houses.  I will share the makeover of the Xterra, I went out earlier, sat in it, visualized. Layed the front seat back, st in the back and couldnt get out!  LOL child locks were on.
