Hello to all, I just joined in hopes to connect with like minded people who are living a similar lifestyle as myself.
I left the east coast last winter, a lack of sunshine and spirituality drove me out west, intrinsically. Literally, I drove a 1999 Jeep Cherokee xj.
I could say I had some bad luck when I first came out west, but I believe, everything happens for a reason and I prefer to say I made some bad decisions, but the truth is that nothing goes as I expect it to.
"Attachment is the root of all suffering"-Buddha

I was hoping to drive that Jeep for a few more years, but rust never sleeps.
I bought a white cargo van in Oregon in June. It was a fleet vehicle for Charter Cable. 92k totally stripped out on the inside. And so it began ....

I've been in Bend, Oregon. Camping in the Deschutes National forest. I had the best summer, hiking, biking, fishing from my kayak. And of course, camping.
Central Oregon is crazy beautiful!
I'm a carpenter and I got a pretty good job building decks, but I stayed too long and I got snowed in last week.
Last Saturday, to get to the coast, I went over Santiam Pass with chains on. I made it, but it was hairy and scary.
I've never been so happy to drive in the rain as I made it to the coast.

I'll finish with this ... there's something I leaned somewhat late in my life. How good it feels to help another human being.
With that being said, when I'm in or around
Quartzite if anyone needs help, I'm mechanically inclined and love to fix things, also I'm a carpenter with all my tools and I love to build, fix and fabricate.
I have a blue kayak on top of my van and blue mtn bike on front. I don't think I'm stealth at all, lol :)

Cheers

Welcome to the CRVL forums Timmy! Glad you managed to make it through all of the obstacles! Are you planning on going to the RTR seminars at the fairgrounds? A note posted on the bulletin board will probably get lots of requests for help. Even if you don't go to the fairgrounds print an RTR logo to put in your window so that other RTR attendees will be able to spot you as a fellow RTRer.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Thank you.
Yes I'll be there. It will be my first RTR!
