Hi! I'm not a single mom but I'm a new mom og a 4 mo old. We are planning a two month 5000 mi camping/family visiting trip this summer and if all goes well we are thinking of making it a lifestyle. Good for you to get brave and get out there on your own.

Nice thread, windymichelle, and good luck in your endeavors, especially the home-school part. Those home-school kids are far more well-adjusted than their public school counterparts. Don't let the crazies tell you any different. Some folks just go totally non-linear when they encounter anything or anyone different or unexpected. Have fun!

You may not be interested in such things, but remember that this family also HOME-SCHOOLED their children while on this bicycle tour from Alaska to Argentina. Hi Michelle,<br><br>I will very much enjoy following your adventures!&nbsp; Sounds like your situation will be somewhat unique. Having a small child along pulls at my heart-strings.&nbsp; I traveled some with my daughter. It was wonderful, seeing the world through her eyes.&nbsp; Here's a snippet I hope isn't too weird to mention -- Once on a road trip with her when she was about 4 or 5, about 30 years ago, I diverted up into a canyon in northwestern Colorado, where we spent the afternoon hiking along the upper hills in there.&nbsp; After a while she announced she needed to do more than pee.... so, after checking that there were no native critters around who might object, I built her her a royal outhouse right there on the mountain, nestled in the privacy of a couple of big boulders, complete with a comfy rock seat around a dugout hole... she was a little skeptical, but duty called, so she finally settled in and sent me away.&nbsp; I climbed up the hill a ways, and waited.&nbsp; Now, mind you, we were overlooking a canyon and her royal throne gave her a wonderful view of it and the surrounding mountainsides.&nbsp; After a few minutes, I was about to check on her, when I heard her little voice yelling at the top of her lungs, "Mom!&nbsp; This is GRRREAT!"&nbsp; And the canyon echoed her words back at us both over and over and over, and I just laughed myself silly, it was so much fun. <img src="/images/boards/smilies/rofl.gif" class="emoticon bbc_img"><br><br>Sassy
