Good Evening to all, just signed up after lurking awhile. 65 (almost 66) y/o male retired and bored to tears. I have not decided on what type of vehicle, I have some physical limitations I have to cater to.

Anyway, hope to learn from ya'll and contribute if I can.

welcome Gunny,  glad to have you here.  highdesertranger

Thanks for the welcome highdesertranger. Gunny (or Rob), whichever.

Welcome from central Ohio! This is a great place to ask questions and get information about your options. I think we have members in just about every kind of set up you could imagine.

Hi, Rob, Gunny or whichever... :D

Welcome. You'll find more info here than you can read in 6 months. Among older threads, you can find info on almost any type of vehicle a person can sleep in.

If you don't mind sharing which kind(s) of physical limitations you want to accommodate, it would help those with knowledge here to better give you ideas or suggestions. If it is a back problem, you likely need something tall enough to stand up in, right?

You are on the right track coming here if you want to solve being bored. There is so much wonder out there to experience whether you look for the solitude of nature or manmade fun in cities.

I am leaning toward a small Class A, something in the 25- 27 ft range. It's going to have to be an older one to be in my price range. And thanks for the welcome.

Writer Ms. , I have Degenerative disc disease and a bone on bone left hip that cant be repaired. There's a bit more but then it gets into self pity.

A friend has a class C  and has had a lot of issues with it, plus I ain't climbing to go to bed.

I am in no hurry, I'll know what I want when I lay eyes on it I hope.

And thanks for the welcome.

Welcome aboard Gunny
When looking at class Cs be on the lookout for roof and window leaks , especially on the front cabover windows .

Welcome Gunny,        I'm with you on climbing up on things to sleep...I always figured that overhead bed space would make good storage for bulky lite weight stuff.

As for climbing i haven't been in the bed of my ranger for 2yrs.. almost went out of it backwards :s  and it sits a little high up [4x4 with rear overload springs] to try again right now.

There is a wide skill set and knowledge base among these folks & I'm sure that at your age you have plenty of the same to bring to the table.

Speaking for myself I'm sportin' more than a few dents and dings to the old body...nuthin' plum broke yet... but a few places are borderline.  I've a friend in the frozen north  [SD] who is past 80yrs  with a bone on bone shoulder and I know how painful that can be.

Today is my 3mo anniversary here at CRVL and I'm still trying to catch up on the blogs...builds....conversions while trying to keep up with all that's new...... so again...WELCOME ABOARD   :)

The hip is bearable for about 50 yards then it's time for a break, makes grocery shopping fun. I'm told I am not a candidate for surgery, I went in for what was to be a minor day surgery and for some unknown reason went into respiratory arrest, got to spend the next 9 days being weaned off the ventilator. I've got drugs that eliminate the pain (probably wouldn't feel it if I was on fire) but they make me goofy and I am goofy enough without drugs.

I hope I don't sound like I am complaining, I'm not. I am fortunate to be alive to see my youngest enter her second phase of becoming a physician, so it's all good. Thanks for all the replies..
