I've just bought a Promaster 1500, 136 wb low roof. I will be doing a self built conversion (my 2nd). It will be quite simple and budget friendly hopefully. We will use it for weekend trips and a couple 2-3 week excursions a year. Our needs are minimal....think metal tent with a comfy bed and wheels, and an efficient smallish 12v electric cooler. I have lots of experience with the mechanical stuff...in past lives I used to be a mechanic, a building contractor and a cabinet maker. What I need to get a handle on is the electrical configuration. I'm looking forward to participating in some discussions here and picking up some ideas from those of you who have some experience. Thanks in advance!

If you search this site there are some really good diagrams and specs for whatever size system you need. Comments here tend to lean to the least expensive options although you will need to educate yourself enough to assemble them without damaging components. Should be easy for someone with mechanical experience. Welcome by the way!

Welcome to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome to the forum!

Here is a link to a recent Promaster build, she was at $7k for the build.

My build was much cheaper and faster ($750 in a month) and includes secured bins where she built out cabinetry etc. Similar design and still very cozy.

Thanks bullfrog, I'll be searching the forum thoroughly for the next few days.

Welcome to the forum. I find that after you searched and read the information on the subjects you need (And watch the videos available) then this forum gives you a place to codify those ideas and ask questions. I know you’re in the right place. Again welcome and become a regular poster the more the merrier.
