Greetings, I've been living the vanlife kn ajs arou d mesa for the last few weeks.  Recently, though, I decided I'm taking a trip to pennsylvania for the winter and probably next summer.  I can park on my family's land, use the house when it gets too cold, and I'll have a nice warm garage to actually build out my van as I see fit.  I plan on returning to arizona next winter with a fully built adventure van.  Anyone on here in the northeast?  I'd like to meet a few more of the tribe, as I've already met a few in my travels here, all of which are amazing people.

Hi, I'm not a bona fide member of the tribe as I'm not on the road just yet.  Have a look at my thread to see where I'm at regarding a rig.

Anyway, I'm just north of PA, in NY.  What van will you be working on?

uhm you do know your going completely 180° in the wrong direction. LOL. highdesertranger

Yes, desertranger, I'm aware I'm going the wrong way, but it's only temporary while I actually build my van, I'll be back in the southwest by next winter. And max, I have a 1997 chevy express 2500, it's an ex contractor van so it has a bunch of shelving in it already, I don't know if I'll use it though, it takes up a lot of room. I'll make a thread detailing my build when I start it. Right now it's just a cargo van with a makeshift mattress in the back. I still love it, though.

PA builder, what will the name of your thread be, so we can keep a lookout for it.  Did you get a chance to look at my ideas for the 1987?

I'm not sure yet, but I'll let you know when the time comes. I haven't checked out your thread yet, but I always like to have other people's ideas in mind when the building process starts.

Yep, that's why I'm here.  :)  My ideas have morphed from the early ones.  Mostly it's the technical things that get me, but there are a lot of knowledgeable people here.  I'm glad I started researching and planning early, I;ve found some icredible products etc.  Have fun... hope our winter isn't as bad as the last one.

Max, I checked out your thread, the econoline will make a solid rig once you're done with it. I'll let you know when I start my build thread.

Thanks PA van man :)   Wouldn't it be nice if planning hours could be considered part of the build time.  I'm not complaining, I'm having more fun planning Greybeard (formerly known as Methuselah) than I did building this house.

I haven't come up with a name for mine yet. As if now it's just referred to as "the tank" lol.

trip to pennsylvania for the winter

Brrrrrr !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I moved out of Pennsylvania to get AWAY from the winters.....    ;)

What part of PA are you visiting? There's lots to see at the Philadelphia end, lots to see at the Pittsburgh end---and there's a big empty area in the middle that we call "Pennsyltucky".  :)

Pittsburg in the west, philly in the east, and Alabama in between! That's how I explain it...
