Hi Everyone,

A newbie here stopping to introduce myself. My story may be typical...mid 50's...divorced...house foreclosed...living in an apartment for the last year and half. Cant stand people living on top of me,next to me and listening to the lady behind me snore every night. I have been pedaling in the rat race for 35 years and finally came to the conclusion that the rat was going to win. So, I'm downsizing to a cargo trailer and becoming a free-bird. I'm basically following Bob's ideas and building out a trailer and learning about solar, etc.

I will leave Colorado January 1 headed for RTR. I do have a question though: Are there any ways to make some money (i.e. Job) in quartzite? Do vendors higher help for that big RV show? Need a little spending money and don't like to sit idle too long. Thank you.

Ed

Welcome Ed. Can't answer your Quartzite question as I haven't been. Someone here can help, though, I bet.

Welcome to the group! I too know nothing about jobs in quartzite, but guarantee someone here will chime in. See yo at the RTR

Welcome aboard, CBY! Hope the cargo trailer project works out well for ya! I converted one myself, which I still have, & although mine's too small to actually LIVE in, it did turn out better than I expected, & is perfect for camping & road trips. Good luck with yours!

I'm not first hand knowledgeable about this but I believe that there was talk about all the forest service campground type people would be around Quartzite during the big RV show time looking to fill positions for the places they work at/with. Maybe be there early and get the pick of those jobs.

Hi, Congrats, & Welcome Ed. I can't answer your question about work, but I'm pretty sure someone at this link http://www.quartzsitervshow.com/ might be able to point you in the right direction.

Good Luck

Steve

Hi Ed, welcome to the forum. i havnt been out to q either, but im positive if you are resourceful, and willing to work hard, there are all kinds of ways to earn money on the road. You might look at the forum entitled " money matters"

Welcome aboard Ed
Hope to head out to the RTR
myself. Where in Colo. are you from. I live in Welllington......
Just curious

Welcome Ed, its a great feeling to get out, lol i just started myself in august and have never felt better physically and more important mentally. Have fun on the road!

Thank you guys for all your welcomes. I will follow up on your suggestions.

Livingfree- I'm from Parker. Just a burb of the big city.

Les- I say this in jest as the written word often doesn't convey sarcasm. Willing to work hard? I'm more for hardly working

Think competition for limited jobs. Everyone in a small area will want to get jobs. So be careful with plans

Hello Ed.

Your story is very similar to mine...cargo trailer and all. Welcome aboard. I used to live in Highlands Ranch near you, in fact I worked a second part time job in Parker back when it was a little spot. Maybe we can meet up at the RTR and swap war stories.

Welcome to the group from your fellow "free birds". Good luck with your van conversion and may you be safe in your travels.
