Here is an interactive map for the validity of concealed carry permits from the different states. I have 3 and am covered for virtually all states West of Florida except CA and NV. Don't care much for either of those states, so I'm 99% good to go.

Nevada is a strange deal. It is actually one of the hardest CCWs to get (you actually have to shoot the weapon and it is only good for that one weapon you shoot) but they have about the least reciprocity. Very strange.

Even stranger is that NV is a very pro-gun state. Open carry is common around towns.

Yep, I don't bother with NV's weird CCW requirements. As if shooting one pistol is all that different to shooting another. I just open-carry when in NV and it's never been a problem.

As it stands, with my CO CCW the only state west of the Rockies that I can not carry in is CA. I open carry in NV, WA, and OR as they do not recognize my permit.

Some oddities with WA: You can not carry a *loaded* pistol while in a car without a CCW permit. So, I must un-holster my gun, drop the mag, and rack the slide to remove the round in the chamber BEFORE entering my vehicle. I can only imagine what the people are thinking when they see me do this in public... but that is the law (as stupid as it is) and conformed by local LEO that it is what I should do while in WA. Ironically, this is also considered "brandishing" and I could be arrested... for following the law.

Some oddities in OR: It is legal to open-carry in the entire state... EXCEPT for 5 cities (Portland & suburbs) that have passed local ordinances making it illegal to openly carry a *loaded* gun. Unloaded is still OK, but what use is that?

Obviously I just try to avoid the west-coast as much as I can.
