A parody of Grievance Collecting from an author called WW Morris.

""If you want to get along in this world, don't forget the smallest offense or slight. Keep score of all wrongs done to you. Be sure to remember each petty statement made about you in the past. Cultivate your garden of grievance each day. Take a few minutes before you get out of bed each morning to recite to yourself the names of the people who have offended you, and the nature of their offenses. When you are driving alone in your automobile, use that block of time to recall the names of your enemies and to make preliminary plans for getting even with each of them. Paste the record of your ruffled feelings in your private book of remembrance.

Save up grudges and collect grievances like a stamp or coin collector. Display them to others with pride! You will soon learn how easily grievance collecting can become a lifetime hobby that will blend into your total lifestyle. Soon you will find that spare time is not enough time for grievance collecting, and you will look forward to retirement so you can give your complete time to such a demanding hobby. "

Learn to forgive. Learn to move on.

Life is short. Enjoy it.

Love this, P_M! I've had my spirit eaten alive by my grievance collecting tendencies, on occasion. Such a waste of time and energy! Living well is the best revenge!

I found it on a search for grievance collectors. I'm afraid they a search of the author might reveal some rather strong opinions that won't apply to everyone. This, however, I thought was well written.

The Prophet! I read that when I was fourteen. Impacting, excellent read.

Honestly though, I think Stillwater the panda did more for me than any.

Yup...got the grievance committee during our weekly meeting at work tomorrow. Some people can't just let it go. It gets so old and makes one feel old to have to watch it and live with the effects. I'm lucky though...I spend as little time in the office and out with my patients as much as possible. As much as I love working with patients, I'm ready to RUN FOR THE HILLS!!! Get out of this insane assylum we call life. LOL...Suppose to get to 36 below with the windchill tonight...Can I come south now?

Rae

I grew up with someone like this. He was a childhood best friend and sadly lives his life this way. He remembers every wrong ever done to him with blinding clarity while completely and conveniently forgetting the wrong he's done to others. I had the distinct pleasure of getting reacquainted with him about 3 years ago. It was real sad because nothing in his life had changed, and had only gotten worse for the guy. People like this are magnets for despair in their lives which he tried to drag me into (again), and I flat out knocked him on his ass for trying. The good thing to come out of it was a chance to resume my relationship with his boys. They both turned out to be really good kids and I couldn't be prouder of them both.

One of the Festivus rituals is the airing of grievances. The following has been cut / pasted from Wikipedia:

Festivus is a secular holiday celebrated on December 23 as an alternative to Christmas...

Airing of Grievances
The celebration of Festivus begins with the "Airing of Grievances", which takes place immediately after the Festivus dinner has been served. It consists of lashing out at others and the world about how one has been disappointed in the past year.

Happy Festivus to all... and to all... Good night!

Festivus - did not know that about festivus. Interesting twist.
