Greetings everyone,

I have just bought a Ford E-250 Extended Cargo High Top van (used to be a wheelchair van) I'll be traveling the country for the winter. I live in MA and do gardening/ permaculture for the Summer-Fall and then I travel for the winter.

If you know of anyone who has this same van or similar please connect me with them! I'd love to see what theyve done. But until then looking forward to meeting some of yall on the forum.

Ryan

Sounds like a wonderful way to Vandwell....

I spent summer/fall in New England (lots of time in mass), and soooo loved it...the gardening/permaculture is very cool...

Welcome...hope to cross paths one day...

Hi, Ryan,
You don't mention how much time you've had to poke around the forum topics, so I'll mention the big gathering in Quartzsite, AZ, that starts Jan. 5. Just in case you want to throw something to sleep on in your van and drive on out. LOL Details are under Gatherings.

In the "Van" conversion thread, I'm betting you'll find some similar if not the same vehicle being outfitted.

Welcome!

Welcome, mychorriza,

I am currently in RI, and am interested in permaculture, too.
Back in 1990, I bought a Ford E-250 Extended Cargo High Top van that had already been converted:
it had a sink/shower attachment so I could shower by opening the back doors; and all the usual RV conversions:
propane heat/stove, dining table/bed, and even an extra bed space above the drivers/passengers seats, and the usual toilet set up (which I didn't like) - I think I would go with a dry composting toilet system, and only create grey water from my sink if at all, in the future; anyway, that old van stalled in Denver, and she was irreparable. But fun while she lasted!
Currently de-stashing my stuff so I can get mobile; and I am interested in grass "roots" movements,
like permaculture, too. Good luck, and check back!

Welcome to the CRVL forums, Ryan! I've escaped MA for the winter, but return every summer. My summer roomies (yard mates?) include organic landscapers and gardeners who specialize in permaculture, native species and sustainable farming/gardening/living.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome.  Sounds like a great way to live.  How long have you been working half the year and traveling the other half?

Wekcome, i am in the process of buying a E350 Extended Cargo High Top Van - will name it the "escape pod" for now. I wonder if u have any experience or lesson learn to share on what to look out for.  Btw mine a Diesel.  Tomorrow,  will be send to the Inspection center for a Eyeballing session(with special concern if the Technical Bulletin on the engine has been taken care off) before pulling the trigger.
