Road Champ here.
Been hanging around here for a while now and figured it was time to introduce myself. Champ was my best friend , see my avatar , and did he ever love the road. Him and I crossed this great land many times together in pursuit of what ever we liked . We racked up 200k miles in a 98 Dodge Diesel 3500 4x4 with an ARE commercial Shell and a 95 Wells Cargo 22 ft trailer . Life changes for everyone , Champ passed Labor Day 2013.

Seems to be a lot of folks here that can relate to the joy of having a dog(s) as a companion to share adventures with. Bob's connection with his Homer was the deal maker for me to join this community.

Speaking of Bob , I'd like to thank him for bringing this tribe together and look forward meeting him someday down the road .

I'm itchin to get back on the road, time for a new adventure ..to move on

Till then .. Road Champ out

Welcome Road Champ, we're glad you are here!! I'm sorry for the loss of your furry friend, I know how devastating that is! Homer is getting older and slowing down a lot; just the thought of losing him brings tears to my eyes and I have to quickly turn my mind to something else or I'll be bawling like a baby very quickly. :(

When you get out on the road, you're always welcome in my camp!

Wanna go to Alaska this summer!!??

Welcome. When the time is right, or even if it isn't, I hope soon you will have another friend to fill the hole in your heart with love once again. People who can open their lives up to eventual pain and let in more love are indeed fortunate and blessed. It does seem so unfair that our pets live such short lives.

Thanks For the the warm welcome and condolences . Yeah I miss ol Champ but we had a damn good run together. I'm very thank thankful for 12 years he spent with me on this journey .

Bob, I'd love to join you a for a spell on your upcoming Alaska adventure but
I'm stuck in the salt mines, by choice, until September at which time I'll be heading west. Thanks for invite though and I look forward to crossing pathes with you in the not too distant future.

For all you traveling with your furry family members, give em an extra hug everyday and say thank you ...

The fun has begun
Be safe everyone

Hello RoadChamp!

I used to truck long-haul with my buddy Lefty. He was a great listener, but he wasn't much for conversation. (altho at times, he sure gave me a look like he understood exactally what I was saying.) He was a good dog. :D

Sounds like you've already got your traveling gig in order, and we love experienced traveler's advice, so I'm sure you have alot to contribute on here.

Welcome from the Oregon Coast!

Hi Patrick,
Thanks for the welcome. Pretty ironic, my dog Champ and I were known as Lefty and Champ ! He wasn't much of a conversationalist either but he listened to every word I said like it was gospel.

Traveling plans pretty loose at this point . Just gonna head west sometime in September . Would like to attend RTR next year . Gotta a decent Chevy 4x4 with a cab high shell that should serve my purposes. Plan on building a sleeping platform with storage compartments this spring and try it out out on some weekend local camping trips.
