could anybody recommend a reliable gps  I have a tomtom it is not working! :s

I've been using their free tomorrow version drunktom. It doesn't get you home very well, but it's good at locating the nearest bar.

Prefer a stand alone dash GPS. A Garmin with lifetime updates should be $80-140. Some like the big size trucker version to see better. More expensive.
IMO cellphones ok for limited use but all mine regardless of brand get very hot when running for hours. Then you have to figure a way to put on dash, small screen. The dedicated dash GPS just work, remembers where you are going when you leave McDonald’s

I have been using garmins for a while. Stick to the ones with lifetime free maps. I get mine from ebay and the only drawback I have seen is shorter battery life but mine stays plugged in so that's not an issue for me
