This is something that I just learned about a few weeks ago.....
Governments spend a lot of our money. They buy a lot of expensive stuff and then sell it back to us, used, so they can justify buying new stuff. The prices often aren't bad at all. Also, they confiscate tons of stuff, then sell that, too. And recovered items with unknown owners.
Do a search for (Your State) Public Surplus and see what shows up. My neighbor says the good stuff comes and goes.
Then go to Government Deals at https://www.govdeals.com/ and check that list on the left for what they sell. Put your state in the appropriate box and see what they've got locally. It looks like most/much of it is sold by auction.
This one sells cars, vans, buses, trucks (pickups, box delivery trucks, semis, etc)
Also batteries, marine equipment, building supplies, kitchen equipment, electronics, storage containers, electrical supplies, furniture, industrial equipment, lighting fixtures, lumber, scrap metal, motorhomes/travel trailers/SUVs, outdoor living stuff, pipes, valves & fittings, plumbing stuff, pumps (fuel, water), sporting equipment, tanks, tools, trailers, vans, vehicle equipment & parts, welding and woodworking equipment. (I've only list the things that people here might be interested in.)
