while researching solar water well pumping for our cattle ranch i ran across this http://www.or.nrcs.usda.gov/technic...ntal_engineering/data/SolarTechNote100929.pdf .i know it's kinda of long and a little technical in some parts but there is some good info. i liked the parts were they talked about tilt and give easy formulas to get it right. they also give a link to a map that shows what the solar potential is for the whole country. is for a residential size array(4kw) but you can get an idea of your areas potential or you can do the math and make it for small systems. you also have my permission to ignore the parts about the water pumping. highdesertranger

Thanks for that link. It has some good info. especially liked the +-15 degrees for angle change from summer to winter months.

Here is a great calculator that shows best pv angle depending on the time of year and where you are located. you input your country. for USA you input state and select a city. pretty easy.

http://solarelectricityhandbook.com/solar-angle-calculator.html

A nice add on to one of these systems (if it mounted off the building) is a solar tracker. It automactically tracks the angle of the sun at any time of year.
Heres a 5kw one. Theres some good stuff out there.
