I was recently reading Audoni's post about making Pemmican when a thought occurred to me. Before I tell you what it is let me explain a little more. We have meets to share information, trips, tricks, and anything else related to this lifestyle. This forum birthed the idea of tribal travel in loose knit groups from time to time (not sure how that's coming along yet, but I'll be instigating that when and where possible once I'm out there myself), and also the idea of guerrilla gardening for the tribe.

Here's what I was thinking ...

Seasonal/regional meets based on food. Basically the gatherings are centered on making food stuffs that can be stored and travel over (short/long) periods of time. We get to see each other, catch up, make some new great memories together, and ultimately make some yummy food for ourselves. Something along the lines of canning veggies/fruits, maybe an occasional hunt, make pemmican, or any other kind of food you can think of.

I think this is a great idea. Tara used to carry a small canner in her astro. When she was here at the farm, she canned venison for the road. She would can along the al-can highway, wherever she had extra food!

I have long wanted to try dehydrating stuff on the dashboard. Not here in the humid northeast though. Next time in the desert....

On Saturday at the market I'm going to pick up some grass-fed beef fat to make pemmican. I need to borrow a blender.
