They're beginning to drill holes in gas tanks to get at the fuel now that it's price is running up so high. Anybody done any mods such as locking gas cap door, etc? I know you can't stop someone drilling a hole in the tank, but a locking cap or door and watching where it is parked might help. Who makes the best locking caps? Fuel door mods?

Hi Vern, I have been using locking gas caps ever since gas went over $2.00. I just buy the standard Stant brand....
Bri

HAHAHAHAHA.
Some idiot attempt messing with my truck - never mind drilling thru my crash plate and into my fuel tank for the 31 gallons of gas it holds??
That would be Epic.
Life would not end well for them.
I have no sense of humor about my truck being messed with and zero tolerance for scumbags.

Most locking gas caps can be popped off with a screw driver, crowbar, vice grips or the plastic ones cut thru with a 12v or 18v cutting wheel or sawzall - I know, I've lost many keys.
I keep meaning to put a lock on the gas door, too....it's on the giant list of stuff 2do.

I recently discovered that my van has a screen installed somewhere along the line. I needed to syphon some gas to ensure that the car would make it to a gas station, and couldn't. Decent mod, not sure if that was standard in 1978.

hand drill or electric (if you are stupid) will go through a (modern) gas tank like butter.. Unless, like some you have skid plates or the like covering it. The best thing is that its usually late at night and you are often "Home"

These idiots among everything else, often don't have a way to carry a lot of fuel with them and leave the rest to spill on the ground
