Thanks for the heads up! Have you used this software?

Can you compare it to other programs like picasa or gimp?

It's rather specialized stuff, not general purpose stuff like Photoshop, Picassa or GIMP. The one program corrects inherent lens problems, and the other corrects wide angle distortion, which could be particularly useful for landscape photographers.

I'm not sure what all the hoopla is about here, DXO and many other software manufactures offer 30 day trials all the time. What am I missing here?

Free trials either stop working after 30 days, or have other built in limitations - not permitting you to save your work, for example.

These are not the current versions of the software, but there are no limits and they won't stop working in a few weeks.
