thanks Goshawk. that is really cool. I have the Nat Geo(USGS) maps on CD for CA, NV, AZ, and OR. now I have the whole country on 7.5 quads. highdesertranger

Not completely free, depends on the area you might select. I got maps of Kings Canyon but when I selected Santa Monica Mountains I was redirected to a $11.99 Map.
Still a very cool offering from NG

Mike if you click on the red box in the quad you get the topo, if you click off the red box you get the buy this map feature. I got the Santa Monica Mountains, no problem. I would also like to point out all maps are USGS based. meaning the map makers get their base data from the USGS. then add or subtract what they want to included on their maps. highdesertranger
