So I noticed yesterday a new Ford Transit High Roof sitting in the company vehicle lot at work. A closer check reveals it's unlocked so I decided to check it out. This is exactly the van I need! I'm 6'4" tall and can stand up with several inches of headroom. The back is unfinished and HUGE! We lease our vehicles from Penske and when I asked the manager who handles them about it he said they just got this van several months ago. Glad I got to check one out up close because now I can narrow my focus on searching.

I went with the biggest Transit, I decided on it as a nice home for two, and enough headroom to super-insulate. Being under 6', I've got plenty of space to work with, but if I was as tall as you, I'd still be quite happy with some of these new tall vans!

Wait till the lease is up and ask to get it for the residual..

I'll have to ask the manager how long we lease them for. Some of the other vehicles I see we lease are dogged pretty good by the time they are done with them. I just checked the local ford dealer and they have 0% financing for new vehicles, with 2015 models going for several grand below the same 2016 models. Tempting but I can't afford a payment at this time. Like everything else they'll always be there when I'm ready to make a purchase.

Their small engines concern me, but then I have lived in the mountains. It helps having more transmission speeds, but I don't know that it is enough. I think you can forget about towing anything. The EPA is pressuring manufacturers into high MPG. This does not necessarily translate into long engine life. The engine warranty is only for 60,000 miles. http://www.ford.com/commercial-trucks/transitcommercial/specifications/ The 3.5 seems to put out more power than the 3.7.

Bummer. Those Zero interest loans are NEVER available when we need a new car. I could have saved a lot of $$$ if I traded in my 1 yr old sport trac on a new one at 0% back after 911 when they did that. Shoulda coulda didn't!!!

So Penske is leasing out Ford Transits now - good for them. Good luck with it. The only thing I worry about with these vans is their low clearance = overwise nice vans!
