I've spent most of my holiday seasons out on the road , mostly alone.
Kinda got used to not celebrating at all. Most nights were just a big party anyway. Burnt out on all that after a couple of years. I guess , for me , not celebrating WAS a celebration !
 
December Solstice is an observable, proven, scientific fact.
 
Boxing day is also an observable fact. (The return/exchange of presents on Dec 26.)
 
For us from now on, it's going to be Happy Chinese Takeout Day. After years of the xmas rush and working all week and then cleaning and then cooking a huge complicated meal and then cleaning up, again, and then going back to work, our family has had enough. We ordered Chinese takeout this year and everyone got to relax.
