Ok so ...

The other day I'm eating at a local Buffet and I see this guy eating, at a table not too far away, with some food sitting directly on the table. My first thought was that somehow this food was rejected and he didn't want the bad food on his plate. Out of the corner of my eye, not too long later, I see him pick up a piece and eat it. lol. And then again and again and again until none was left on the table. I am thinking ... wow that's nasty. Then much to my surprise he puts more food on the table and lets it sit for a while as he is eating other food from his plate. Then again he is eating the food directly off the table. Rinse and repeat. Rinse and repeat. Eventually he pays his bill and leaves. 0.o

I know that most if not all of you (like myself) probably do NOT eat off the table like THAT ...

That being said ...

In a poll I ask the following question:

You're eating something tasty ... Part of what you're eating breaks off and lands on the floor ... You "then"

Depends on how clean my floor is.... :D

Now when I had any of the Collies you can guarantee that I didn't get what fell to the floor!..

5 second rule be damned, they were faster than I ever could be!!

If a piece of food fell on MY table at home, I'd eat it. The table in a restaurant I don't even want my silverware sitting on.

With three mini schnauzers, it never makes it to the floor. lol

In my van, pick it up, maybe even wash it off, and eat it.

Anywhere else, it goes in the garbage.

it all depends where the floor is, is it in a fast food place or in the middle of the desert. like others have said I wouldn't need to call my dog over, anything that hits the floor is his domain. I am very carful with my steak. highdesertranger

Well,Being the smartass that I am,I have a great answer(it involves a female) but I'd better cool it so I can stay on the forum.

It Depends...

What it is.
What it fell on.
Where I am...

Sooooo many variables.

Something dry, at home? Pick it up, blow the dog hair off of it, eat it.

Out of the house or wet? It's ant food.

At a restaurant or in the nasty house I'm stuck living in now, I won't eat anything that hits the floor or table. At home there's too many cats that dig in the litter box and will catch it before it stops moving, so there's no way I would eat off the floor.

heck,if it only has a couple hairs on it wash it off and eat it,but if it has a lot of hair on it,well, wash it off and eat it??? there's a bunch of bugs and what not already in our food so it's all mental

What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger :p You do need to build up antibodies, right?

Brian

Depends. If the food is something wet and sloppy, the dog gets it. If it's a piece of chocolate, I get it. ;)

I plead the 5th but like others here it depends on the circumstances.

I have been dead tired, lost in the woods(don't ask how that happen), cold and cranky and when that steak hit the ground I picked it up shook it off and chowed down.

If it falls on the bathroom floor while I'm eating and Facebooking while sitting on the toilet, I pick it up and flush it down.

My daughter's greyhound puppy if much faster than me. Right now, we are trying to teach her that the human food on the counter or stovetop is NOT hers just because she can reach it.

There is a reason I use something with high sides. :p

It depends. Inside and sometimes outside, most likely I'd eat it after "eyeing" it. I have 2 senior dogs that are familiar with me dropping a goodie and saying loudly "No! That's mine!" and they stop their pursuit. In a public place, I would not pick it up and eat it but rarely do I eat out since I don't trust the cleanliness, etc. in the first place. I worked in food service in the past. I won't "detail" it. I am hopelessly frugal having inherited the trait from my Grandpa. Thank you Grandpa!
