I know many think the whole state of California is on fire,  but it's not.   in fact the BLM has lifted more fire restrictions,

as a note in CA you must have a campfire permit to have a campfire or to use a camp stove outside.  the permit is free,  if you plan on having a campfire or using a camp stove,  or BBQ get a permit.  there are also different stages of burn bans here's a explanation of the rules,

I am posting this as a FYI.  remember even if you have a permit and are following the rules if your carelessness started a wildfire you will be held responsible.   common sense must be observed,  be safe out there.  highdesertranger

From the descriptions I've heard/read; are you sure the fire restrictions they're raising aren't just in areas that has already burned so there is little chance of starting a new one???

Thirsty, no the bans have been lifted for huge parts of the state most of which has not burned. if you look at the links I gave there are maps which shows the areas where the bans have been lifted. I don't know where you got this info but to say all of this area has been burned is mind boggling. highdesertranger
