Fight a grizzly with a penknife!

Hubby's great with articles from Facebook. This one is about a guy successfully fighting off a grizzly when he ran into one. Unfortunately,  the bear had to be put down.

There was one documented case where a guy killed an attacking bear with his bare hands.

When fighting for your life you use whatever weapons you have available.  You just might (and he did) get lucky.

I wouldn't recommend thinking that a penknife is adequate protection from any predator attack.

Had an online friend who was on vacation at Big Bend NP a few years ago and a cougar attacked his son in the parking lot at the lodge after breakfast. He stabbed it repeatedly in the thigh with a Spyderco pocketknife and it let go and ran off. His son only sustained minor injuries.

That's crazy. And yeah +1 to what spiff said. Anything you have available. A pocket knife. A rock. A stick. There is no wrong way to survive a life and death battle.

Anyone see the movie Back Country? A 30-ish couple goes on a long trek to a beautiful lake, but a bear becomes involved. Absolutely terrifying IMO. It's on Netflix.
