Can anyone recommend a good source for DIY electircal wiring a van? Book (Ex:  Electric Wiring for Dummies)? Internet? I've watched every YouTube video I can find, but would welcome specific suggestions for helpful videos. Electrical is so intimidating and that is my next step before I can move forward with the build. I'll be doing the wire pulling, electrical box installing, etc. work myself, but will then have an electrician check to be sure I don't set the van on fire. I just need to know more than I currently do. Thank you for any recommendations you can provide they will be greatly appreciated.

I can only make one comment here. Make sure all the main power lines have fuses or circuit breakers. Then less likely your van will burn.

Are you near ST. Pete Florida ???

I just finished helping a friend do a new promaster ; solar , AC 110, inverter 110 , 12 circuit DC fuse panel , pump and  2 max air roof fans

would be glad to help..

That I can give you, Will Prowse takes it down to the very basics to where the most novice can understand. I'm pretty good at it myself, throw me some questions, and we'll see what I can do. I make some extra coin around here helping folks set up solar and electrical systems in their RV's all the time as well as mechanical, at which I'm really good.

1945047.jpgI used "Sailboat Electrics Simplifed" by Don Casey.
I'm a visual person, but videos do not work very well for me. Along with reading the electrical forums here on CRVL, the book was invaluable.  Black and white illustrations,  diagrams and easy to understand tables.  It's 20 years out of publishing, but they have solar covered there. Aside from a few newer bells and whistles (and lithium batteriesl, 12 volt systems haven't really changed.

I bought it on Amazon, hardcover for $21. It was well worth the money for me.  I had many "Oh, that's how it works!" moments with the book.

This sounds like just what I'm looking for. I prefer books to videos as well. Thanks!

Thanks, Cajunwol! I'll check these out.

No problem and I'm pretty good at this stuff myself, so ask me anything you want. If I don't know the answer, I know who does. That, or I'll help you find it because I'll learn something along the way too.
