Do you go into hiding over the Fourth of July?

Well, I'm working but I'm officially on vacation at 7 am in the morning. YAY! I don't come back until July 20th. I have what I need and am heading to Bismarck, ND after clocking out. I'm gonna hide out wherever I feel like but I'm gonna stop in to say hi to some Benedictine nuns who are personal friends of mine first.

I can't wait!!! :D

It is the 4th, and I managed to get pictures of the local fireworks stand,  Now everyone can see what I have to put up with for the next couple weeks,

With the massive traffic, crowds of people trying to get out and experience nature by burning gasoline, do you find a remote place and wait out the holiday weekend?

What's up sky?

Not this holiday I haven't.  Iv'e been with friends and family the whole weekend so far.  Supposed to watch fireworks and go to a family picnic later this afternoon but want to chill instead!  It's been pretty good.   I think next year I would like to be out camping - - away from it all, with a nice lady...  I didn't burn too much gas though, just starting campfires : )  Speaking of crowds - I went into a local convenience store, on the east coast called Wawa, on Saturday morning and couldn't even walk in there.  Couldn't wait to get out of there lol.

What was your preference this year? (Didn't read the whole thread...)

Peace,

Matt

We went to see the fireworks last night because my dear wife just had to see the show. For some reason the fireworks are on July 3 here. I noticed that the police were on edge and the crowd was rowdy. It turns out that there was a riot before we got there, with fights and bottle throwing at the police.

The members here are showing their age; for me, there are plenty of days for peace and solitude but the Fourth is definitely not one of them. I'll be driving a bunch of rowdy coworkers into Jackson Wyoming to party and see the fireworks. Unfortunately it is illegal to discharge fireworks in Teton County with the high fire risk, so we won't be shooting any of our own.

I like fireworks shows and use to photograph them yearly. Having dogs makes the Fourth a pain and this is the first time in 30 years we have not had to deal with it. We would go down to the basement with music on, no help. We live 10 blocks from a major show with the real big boomers and the neighborhood pops for weeks.

We would go up to the hills so deep that we saw no one but then I would be sitting up at 3 AM holding them as the thunder storms shook the trailer. I miss my dogs and would relish the chance to comfort them again. That is until I saw the fear in their eyes and felt the uncontrolled shaking building with every boom. It just would not be worth it to have to put them through it.

I do my best to hide on the 4th... I just hang out in my office in the woods as my dog freaks out at all the noise. Its worse for me on Memorial Weekend because of the battle reenactments out here. All the guns and cannons going off makes for a very unhappy border collie.

They say a thunder shirt is suppose to help. Too late for me to try one.

My dobie freaks out at fireworks! Vet approved and recommended benadryl. Works like a charm. Hardest part is getting them down him.  No matter what I wrap them in he eats the treat then spits out pill. To smart for his own good!! Totally calms him down without the scary tranq sleep of the dead.

We unfortunately are at a thousand trails with toooooo many people! Was fine last week and will be fine again here tomorrow. Weekend has been crazy.  But to hot in Texas to boondocks without a generator for ac so will suffer through it! Nice lake views and breeze after all these crazies go home!!

I sort of thought we were in hiding but then this guy pulls up in a friggen tank (no joke), and starts shooting the top machine gun at something.  I am guessing it is some old rich fart who bought it army surpluss.

Well that sounds like a place to have been avoided.  Yes, would have rather been in hiding  :)
