https://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/rvs/5601353481.html

just the little problem of being about 4k or so over priced

some comparisons
https://bend.craigslist.org/rvs/5601795261.html$3250
https://bend.craigslist.org/rvs/5581883810.html$2500

i'll keep an eye and info but not going no more then 4k if its perfect and would have to change out the 400cid

check on it for a while. A lot of people anymore start out extra high because they know they will be talked down. Some people will get down right desperate after an offer or two falls through and will let things go extra cheap just to be done with it. Maybe you'll get lucky

That looks really nice.  My very first van was a 1978 Chevy 1/2 ton with a 350ci and 3 on the tree.  The only real problem it had was it kept breaking the clutch linkage.  I fixed it once with a bent nail and limped back to grapevine from dallas.  I REALIZED THE OTHER NIGHT [i wasn't yellin'   :) ] that this must have been my first ' van build' if putting in a 3/4 size roll-a-way bed, cooler, fishing poles , lawn chairs 6 yr. old son, and a hubby etc. count?

I wish you luck and hope you get your dream van         TEXAS JBIRD

That thing looks cherry for a 77 !
Offer the $4k

TJB

Yup , that counts .....

My sympathy I am having a hard time finding a rig. I am telling myself that the right one will come along eventually. Bast

Not exactly related but I was searching Craig's List every day for a particular engine/transmission combination for a swap I was planning. I was checking many times a day for months and came close to what I was looking for a few times. I got distracted for a few days and forgot to search then suddenly remembered and checked and there it was and had been listed for two days. I sent a text immediately and had a reply within a minute, "Sorry, JUST SOLD IT!".

Back to the search grind.....

Guy

I've had this exact same scenario happen to me a few times on different items I've been looking for over the years.  Most recently a very specific outboard motor.  Looked all summer, took a few days off, came back and one had been listed and sold.  It surely does hurt!

it does say OBO. go look it over, see what you think then make an offer. if they say no, leave your phone number and tell them you will negotiate if they don't find a buyer. the only thing that gives me pause is the 400 engine. highdesertranger

I agree, way overpriced
but
why change out the 400? I've had a chevy 400 and it was no worse than a 350 in terms of gas mileage

The 400 Chevy small block is known to have cooling issues.

yep don't get one hot. they have Siamesed cylinder sleeves. so they have poor water flow between the sleeves. I didn't say replace the 400, I would drive it till it died and put a 350 in. I would never overbore a 400 and expect any kind of durability from it. highdesertranger

so i went and looked at it,been babied and garaged so in darn good shape but they where holding at 2x market value so i told them if it comes down to "get that thing out of my yard" to give me a call, yes i showed them the comps and made no difference but they are about 6'2" or so inside which is something i could never get a straight answer to

this might seem odd to some but it was just to nice for me,beside swapping out the 400,been there done that no need to wait for it to get hot and leave you broke down i'll be it the last one went about 1/4 mile from home and coasted home, proper chevy,i would redo the interior,no need for furness,genset,2 couches, carpet, etc.

so if anyone finds a broken down mid/late 70's chevy concourse with moldy interior,i'm your man

well,it looks like i missed out on another one,a 79 chevy chinook not ran in a couple years, best offer over $200 was the add,i emailed them with $500 offer and told them i might top any higher bids but never got a reply and ad deleted,it was north seattle so it would of been an adventure buying a not running rig 200 miles from home

fighting to not break down and get a dodge, they are about 10-15 to one dodge/chevy on the market site
