Has anybody here looked into the leased plots in Why, AZ. I met a couple near Yuma last winter who were headed back to their spot there. They described it as a great place to have the basics for very cheap lease rate of $600/yr.
If you aren't familiar, I believe the story goes something like: the county needed more residents to get governement help for drilling water wells. So they set aside this area to lease out plots on. I believe they are just a few thousand square feet and you can't build anything that a front end loader couldn't remove, but fulltime living in a camper or vehicle is the expected norm.
I wish I could remember the name of the place, but I cannot. *edit- see link below.
Some folks might prefer not to own a place outright so that if the mood strikes to do something else, then you simply move on down the road.
A few years back, we bought some acreage in Douglas, AZ. The rules are slim there. You can dwell there in your camper and i've been told you can sign off on building codes with a minimum number of acres. The town itself is very simple (17000 people) but the basics are there and water is available.

I got the site with no issues.

Certainly looks very boondocking in the desert like except you have neighbors. The unimproved East side says yearly starting at $500. The improved west side with electric is $1700 a year which is less than $5 a day plus electric.

What interested me was the video Bob did where the guy had a class A in a park and a smaller travel rig for out and about.

and

(Headache)  Vagabound it worked for me.

Thanks.  Unfortunately, it's par for the course sometimes when accessing U.S.-based websites from overseas.  That's why I asked.

For those who can see the info, in short, what do you get for whatever they're charging?  Just the highlights are enough, if so inclined.

I have that issue when I use the Global sims based in England. Searches come out interesting too.

It looks pretty barren and not a lot of space between the lots. I don't need electricity for when I'd be there so I'd be going for a yearly on the east side.

I'll temper that by saying the west side looks nicer than the east.

I read the history section of the website - the west side (with FHU) was an existing campground that was bought up and added to the Coyote Howls Campground site inventory at a later date. The first section (East) was the one that was put together in a hurry to meet the requirements for the well-drilling fed money.

I've bookmarked it for myself, even if it's just to have a place to stay with showers when I'm travelling through the area. Might also be a place to land sometime in the future.

One thing about the dry side is generators. I said I'd never stay in a dry campground again due to the generators we heard the only time we have been in one. I know for sure I would never want to have to run mine there.

I did like that there was access to very helpful amenities even if you were staying in the "cheap seats" which is also probably where I'd stay.

I think I'd rather have the larger lot with the cheap seats. Aside from a water run every few weeks and a tow-able blue boy, you wouldn't know I didn't have hook ups.

It wouldn't be much on a yearly basis to have someplace to be able to come back to, get mail at, etc.

It does seem this would solve a lot of problems for not a lot of money if it could serve as a legal address for domicile purposes as well as a home base in the area.

Can anyone else read their FAQ page? It doesn't show me anything, but that's no all that unusual on my chromebook.

You aren't missing anything.  The only question on it was this one:

Where can I find medical facilities?

The closest medical facility is 10 miles away at the Desert Senita Community Health Center in Ajo, AZ The clinic has doctors, x-r

If you've never been to Ajo, it's a nice town and that whole area is gorgeous in my oppinion. We spent a few weeks on the blm land at Darby Wells Rd. and had a great time. One downer though was the lack of cell signal.

Boondocking with wi-fi & showers
Sounds like heaven ;)

Positive reviews, and there are a couple YouTube "bicycle tours" - looks nice, not trashy at all.  This place is definitely going on my list of places to check out.
