Don't listen to me, I'm a n00b. Those butane stoves are the bomb for urban situations. But green bottles are the way to go in the widest variety of situations.

I'll agree with that the butane bottles can be hard to find sometimes. My go to is wal-mart and i'll stock up on them.  A Propane stove is a good choice too especially for the availability issues.

Bob put out a video on the youtube channel for a nice budget dual fuel. If unsure just pick up one of those. Use butane when available and keep a bottle of propane stowed away for a rainy day. Worst case scenario is that you run dry on both but then can go just about anywhere for some more propane.

Anyone who waits until they're right out of butane to look for more probably should use something more easily available.

Just posted a photo in the "Van" forum. Have more, but unable to load them due using my phone & weak signal.

I bought one of those too. Watched a review video, name of the site is outdoorlabgear, or something similar. Nice to have 2 fuel options and the wind screen.

If we end up with a camper rather than a trailer of van conversion, we'll still get one as a backup and as a way not to heat the interior up so much.  I grew up with dad cooking bacon outside on the camp stove, looking forward to doing it myself.   :)

Bacon makes everything taste better... good to cook it outside....where there are no bears!

"... good to cook it outside....where there are no bears!"

That made me smile. I was in a Yosemite campground about 30 years ago, and one morning someone shouted, "Heads up! Bear coming into camp!" The bear was wading across the small creek, headed for one particular woman. She saw him coming and was backing up, the frying pan still in her hand. Bear kept coming. Then a man's voice called out, "Lady, put that frying pan on the ground". She did, the bear cleaned out the bacon, sniffed the air, apparently couldn't find any more, and waded back across the creek.

I wonder if the smell of the urine running down my leg would make the bear less interested in the bacon??

Probably not. Bears are perambulating garbage cans, and there isn't much on this planet that smells better than cooking bacon! Urine is probably waaaaaaay down on his list.
