I'm looking at a GMC Savana Conversion Van, and wondering the best way to black out all the back windows, for the max privacy. I think I'll start by taking all the seats out and convert from scratch.

Don

Hello and welcome!

Nice looking van! I too have a window van and am trying to weigh out the options of privacy products. I also am being careful to plan my remodel inside with the priority of NOT adding to much weight to the remodel/vehicle as i want to keep it light as possible for fuel economy. I have had read somewhere that for every 100 pounds saved/eliminated from a van, you could save an add'l 1mpg on the AVG......myth??? not sure, but it is something to consider!! So for my "build", i am being very aware of of what I put in and it's practical use.

                                           GOOD LUCK ON YOUR BUILD!

                                                                                    Randy

I have an Astrovan with factory tinted windows. This wasn't adequate of course so after pondering more tint and curtains I threw up some cardboard. Works great and the cardboard was free at the local costco.

I have a cargo van with windows in the rear and side doors, got spray paint from Wal-Mart, painted black for max light blockage then white to match exterior paint. A lot of cities have laws about tint, police can't see in but people inside can see out(dangerous for cops), but I haven't had any problems with paint, vans come with no windows.

I just back into parking spots so I don't have to back out into drive.

Thanks All for the info. I'm not concerned about seeing out, and I don't want someone to see in. I thought about painting the windows black, but didn't know how well the paint would stick. That would sure be an inexpensive solution.

Thanks again,
Don

Painted mine a year ago come Feb. No problems, yet.
