On a recent thread "Unwelcome Greeting" about what happened when a member approached a strangers campsite  there seemed to me that there was a good exchange going of our various view points on the subject.

Then what I can only call gender bashing began and I think that is the reason the thread was closed.
I may be wrong...wouldn't be the first  time...or the last either.

I know that many people have suffered thru various forms of abuse in our lives.  Or bad relatioships that cause us to feel that members of the other sex or even same sex can't be trusted.

I am one of the survivors of both.
I blame each individual for their actions against me  based on what their actions were.  Not because they were male or female perpertrators.  I blame them because they were either  mean/evil/bullying/assholes <<<<<<< or all of those.

I can't tell anyone else how to think or feel or speak.

It just seems to me that when all of one gender or the other are lumped together as being "bad, evil, unworthy of trust" what happens is the good folk get lumped in with the not so good folks based on how they were "plumbed" at birth.

I believe that when some people think their gender is being slammed or under attack will defend or retaliate with humour in a condescinding manner which seems to me to be pouring gasoline on a fire to put it out.  As a defensive tactic it doesn't appear to me to be very affective.

Then communication becomes a "us" and "them" attack/defend situation as I see it.

I don't think anyone should be placed in a situation where they feel under attack simply because they are male or female.

Treat others as you would like to be treated, that's how I live, and I encourage all to live their life that way. In general the nomad (and RV) community are a much nicer group than the general public.

We're sad about the interaction between ltripper and someone at a camp he was approaching. Unfortunately, none of the rest of us were there; so, can't really say firsthand who was wrong or right in their behavior or reactions.  It ended up being a bad scene all around that spilled over into the forum and has a few folks making broad generalizations and taking offense on that thread.  This is neither helpful to the OP, nor to the larger vandwelling community.  Therefore, that thread and this one are closed.
