I will outline a few things I will be doing and if anybody can give me some feedback that would be great. First I'm going to be living out of my truck but I want to keep the cab as untouch as possible so I can just put my seats up and it looks like I'm not living out of it. <img src="/images/boards/smilies/tongue.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"> So on with the things to do. 1. I found out that a shell camper tops are may for my car. This is good, SnugTop. (Yikes) So I will have to go there to get it and install it. ($2,400) Craigslist fails me in this area at least. This will add some head space then the tomb I have current on my truck. 2. With the shell top on later on. I was thinking about trying to get solar power to some things I can run off the extra battery it will power in my back end. Many threads and information on it. So this seems like a good plan. Laptop, a fan and some low power stuff. 3. With the current setup of everything being on the "bed" of the truck I would think being a platform and putting it in the truck would be a good idea, I can store stuff under it and lay on top of it. With being a truck I would have that much space but it will suite me just fine. Just trying to sleep and live. So this is my current problems. I don't have the tools, knowledge or resource areas to do any of this. Meaning I will have to take it to someone to do/make the things I'm trying to do. The advance is I'm in a metro area so there got to be places to look in to. But I wanted to know if there anybody willing to do some custom work and earn some extra funds and me not having to pay some company around here overcharge pricing on something that would seems simple if I had the space to do it in. So any information would be great. I mean I'm even willing to travel for a few weeks over the summer time to learn and get this done as well. Hope this explain what I'm trying to do.  Thanks

Installing the solar panel after I get the shell. But right now trying to get a platform made that fits the bed of the truck for what I'm trying to do. I'm working on the layout but any information would be great. <img src="/images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle">

Hi Kuroo,   I have an 03 Avalanche that I lived out of for a short time before getting a trailer to pull with it.  Mine has grooves on each side of the bed intended for adding a platform either halfway, or 3/4 the way up. If yours also has these 'steps' is should be very easy to cut a 2x4 to the right length and lay a sheet of plywood on top.  I found a good deal on a Bedrug for mine which added a lot of comfort. It sort of makes it feel like a huge car, but the Bedrug can take the abuse of whatever you can fit in there anyway. You might try the Chevy Avalanche forums... It's pretty active and they have details about your platform idea.  Chevyavalanchefanclub.com I'd refrain from telling them about living in it though... at least until you get your information. Not so open minded over there. haha I installed solar panels on top of the 3- piece tonneau cover which provide plenty to charge a laptop, phone, ipod, and use lights and fans.  Let me know if I can be of any help! -Noah

Kuroo... welcome! I don't know if this helps but if you don't have tools you can build a bed/platform by placing a piece of plywood on top of crates.  It works great for storage and everything is organized for easy in and easy out when you need it.
