Guys and gals I currently on the Atlantic side near Jacksonvillr,
Looking to consider options of staying in south Florida for winter months and joining my parents in virgina for 6 months when it's warm
I have looked into different scenarios such as palm springs,CA for winter and somewhere in AZ or NM in the remainder months to Dodge the wildfires.
Seems that there is more sunlight out west except desert temperatures get really cold in the winter
I know it's a challenge to find some heat year round.as I seem to feel more ill in cooler climates
If anybody may have suggestions with planning?
My California tags expire in January

It’s colder than normal for this time of year along the southern east coast. Had first frost the other day in the Carolinas. Temps at night hovering around mid to upper 30s. I would do southern Florida if possible or southern Texas if possible.

Texas recently passed a law limiting overnight camping spa lot of Walmart's art using that is stop RV from spending the night.

Perhaps get windows tinted black to sleep in back on air mattress
California plates expire January
I'm using Medicare which CA pays for to schedule a docs
Appt in Florida.Will have to get this cleared since medi cal.pays for medi care in California
But there's a specialist in Florida I'd like to see.They take Medicare but eventually CA may be altered that services are being used out of state
Would be nice if there were no borders
Im unsure if I'll be here just trying it out

Seems that Florida isn't designed for cheap camping
I woke up this morning feeling a bit of fear of being in unfamiliar territory
With the 850 ssdi I receive from California im worried about burning through this
I was curious would there be any advantage to buying a used RV and attaching it to the back of a CRV and perhaps using a heater in the RV in order to avoid the cold nights in the southwest deserts if I headed west?
Seems like the Honda CRV doesn't insulate cold very well,neither does my body
It was in the low 60s this morning and I woke up feeling a little cold.

The old style true air mattress is about the coldest thing you can sleep on, much better to use the new foam for it's insulation properties. A CRV won't tow much of an RV other than a very small lightweight teardrop which can be easily built out of insulation foam. See tnttt.com the foamies forum and use their simple arts and crafts methods to build a simple small space to keep a mattress, a good warm sleeping bag, a shelter and chair for day time use along with anything else you may need. You can strip out the CRV and use foam and a good sleeping bag inside the car but there never seems to be enough space for daytime so a small lightweight utility trailer with a tent and 4 30" x 20" totes can carry all your gear and serve as a bed platform. Enclosing it is easy and cheap with the aboue tnttt.com methods. It worked well for us but eventually got expanded. LOL!!! BLM land makes it easy out west especially near places with facilities.

Curious if anyone knows if it's possible to attach trailer to a 2011 Honda CRV suv to be able to perhaps start with a propane heater for living space to withstand the cold if I were to head back to the southwest like death valley or Arizona and perhaps a stove to do some cooking..how much would this cost?

the Honda CRV where I can have a good heater indoors and a mini kitchen for cooking, and toilet Im considering lstaying on BLM land out west indefinitely

Finding a decent RV that you can afford will be a very iffy proposition. They are in demand and more expensive these days. Even if you're lucky enough to find a good one, they can be expensive to maintain. It's easy to get burned on one that has all kinds of problems that show up later.
The nights can be cold in the SW but once the sun comes up, most days are nice thru the winter.
Do you have a good sleeping bag? A second bag, even a cheap one, over your main bag can keep you pretty toasty at night.
In a small vehicle you can light a butane or LP stove that will warm you up in the morning until the sun gets higher. You just have to be careful with carbon monoxide and avoid accidents.
Do you have enough room in the CRV for a good sleeping platform? It can get crowded with stuff in a small vehicle but to alleviate that you could get a hitch carrier and a cargo box. Or a roof mounted cargo box. Or a small utility trailer that can hold misc. junk.
