Actually stumbled upon on the internet. And lifted from <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 128); text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://paleotool.com/2013/06/27/casual-turtle-campers/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 128); text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Paleotool's weblog</strong></span></a><strong>.<br><br></strong><a href="http://casualturtlecampers.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><strong>http://casualturtlecampers.com/</strong></a><br><br><strong><img class="loaded bbc_img" id="yui_3_10_1_1_1372413732325_1491" style="left: 287px; top: 0px; width: 485px; height: 365px; font-size: 0px; position: relative;" src="http://static.squarespace.com/stati...85043422/Northern Black Hills.JPG?format=500w" rel="lightbox" data-load="false" data-image-id="51ace3bee4b0a134420a45cb" data-image-focal-point="0.5,0.5" data-image-dimensions="3292x2476" data-image="http://static.squarespace.com/stati...0a45cb/1370285043422/Northern Black Hills.JPG" data-src="http://static.squarespace.com/stati...0a45cb/1370285043422/Northern Black Hills.JPG"></strong><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">&nbsp;</span></span>

Sweet! Thanks Cyndi! I think I could do this!<br>I would like to see how they've got things stored. Also that bed is a little close to the ceiling. Don't know about that. lol

I just love the aesthetics of it.&nbsp; On a purely practical level, I suspect it would be very heavy for its size and the exterior wood might be hard to maintain in a wet region but it's beautiful, for sure!&nbsp;&nbsp;

<p>-Beautiful workmanship.&nbsp;</p><p>-Beautiful design.</p><p>-Relatively lightweight.</p><p>I couldn't find anything on the manufacturer's website that indicated they use certified forest materials, or recycled wood &amp; etc. &nbsp;...Correct me if I'm wrong-</p>

I hadn't thought about the use of wood, WT. thanks. I'm going to write to the guy and find out.

<p>Sorry... I didn't mean to be a snob about it. I re-edited my above post, as I hadn't taken my mid-afternoon nap...</p><p>But they make outstanding campers though!</p><p>Matter of fact... This is inspiring, and gives us great ideas to build our own campers similar to that one!</p><p>Perhaps we could make it out of salvaged materials?&nbsp;</p><p>Thanks for posting!!!</p>

I wrote to Peter, owner/creator/builder&nbsp;of Casual Turtle Campers. He asked me to relay the following information.<br><br><em>"</em><em>Thanks to everyone for the comments and thoughts. &nbsp;This is something I've wanted to do for a long time and it's been a lot of fun and very rewarding.&nbsp;&nbsp;</em><div id="yui_3_7_2_1_1372456113393_1867">&nbsp;</div><div id="yui_3_7_2_1_1372456113393_1868"><em>So as I've just recently started down this road of building campers for others - I haven't wanted to take any chances structurally. &nbsp;This is the main reason for not using reclaimed materials. &nbsp;My priorities have been structural integrity, staying lightweight (910 lbs as pictured), keeping them reasonably affordable ($8,500 as pictured) and as good looking as possible. &nbsp;Reclaimed cedar with great physical/mechanical properties is not only very expensive, but is nearly impossible to source in my area. &nbsp;Plus, I think there's probably case to be made for using western Red cedar and hemlock vs. the fiberglass, aluminum, plastics, etc. that conventional campers are made of.</em></div><div id="yui_3_7_2_1_1372456113393_1869">&nbsp;</div><div id="yui_3_7_2_1_1372456113393_1870"><em>I'd be happy to talk more about design, material choices, construction, etc with anyone wanting to know more or who might be interested in building their own camper. &nbsp;I'm not necessarily the authority on the subject, but I do have a good understanding of wood properties and engineering with wood. &nbsp;Thanks again for the interest and conversation.</em></div><div id="yui_3_7_2_1_1372456113393_1872"><em>Peter Pavlowich</em></div><div id="yui_3_7_2_1_1372456113393_1873"><em><a href="mailto:[email protected]" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1372456102_0">[email protected]</span></a>"</em><br><br>As a side note, Peter mentioned that his campers were featured on the Tiny House Blog. <br><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);"><strong><a href="http://tinyhouseblog.com/tiny-house-concept/casual-turtle-campers/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255); text-decoration: underline;">http://tinyhouseblog.com/tiny-house-concept/casual-turtle-campers/</span></a></strong></span></span></div>

No,that was a flagpole. An old guy actually lived in this about 8 years ago at the Slabs but had passed away.

Going to estimate at least $10,000 for the base model, and $15,000 for well equiped.&nbsp;
