i am not the person who was asking for or is in need of advice. I have lots of types of maintenance lubricants and other types of treatments besides canned air in my maintenance kit. Do not worry about me because my 7 way receptacle has a spring loaded dust cover built into it.

I wasnt, I was pointing out your helpful hint, and adding to it. I have not been worrying about you, Maki, you are very self sufficient as always. And I'm not confused about who my advise was for.

Thank you! I meant to go today, but sliced off the end of my finger using my new mandolin. Was at the ER for 7 hours. No fun. I'll go tomorrow.

My first reaction was "What kind of strings are on that mandolin?!?!" but then I realized you meant the kitchen implement!

Hope you heal well. I did that to the tip of my left thumb almost exactly the same way and while it recovered fine, it wasn't fun and my sense of touch is still not as good as my right thumb...

Hope you heal well. I did that to the tip of my left thumb almost exactly the same way and while it recovered fine, it wasn't fun and my sense of touch is still not as good as my right thumb...

Thanks. Doc said my finger should be fine, but the nail probably won't look the same . It took off half the nail on my middle finger and a chunk of flesh under it . I am on xaralto(sp?) Blood thinner so that complicated things.

No thanks to shaving more off. I finished slicing the potatoes with the mandoline tonight and my stomach was doing flip flops the whole time. I wanted a mandoline for a couple years, after seeing them on cooking shows. Now I've ruined it for myself. I'm getting rid of it.

I can take off the bandage tomorrow. Hope all is well under this big potato (pic below). My hands are a mess. They were covered in blood. And glow-in-the-dark nail polish (grandchildren:

I got the coupon code. Glad you told me about it, because there was nothing showing on the website. So I signed up for deals, then it appeared.

I think I need more stuff, before I have everything. The ball hitch? Gotta find the exact size needed. I think someone told me where to look.

Do I measure on the tongue or is there a label?

We all have our comfort zones when it comes to using tools. You can learn to use a mandolin slicer safely but I understand if getting hurt when using one makes you want to never try using one again. After all it is not actually an essential tool in the same way that a very sharp knife is.

Of course some adults should not be trusted with any sharp tools, they just do not have the mental focus for such tasks. You can’t be someone who is easily distracted or has lots of wandering thoughts when using very sharp tools or you will get hurt. Keeping your fingers out of harms way takes focus.

A sharp knife is essential in the kitchen. IMHO. a mando-howeveritsspelled is not. One almost got me once; I never gave it a second chance. As far as chainsaws and taters, the skin is the best part. If you peeled one, what would you do with all that white stiff?
