Cargo Trailer Repair Parts Source?

Ive not been very successful finding sources of parts for cargo trailer repair, I may not be using the correct terms. I have an older Haulmark 6x12 trailer, the front edge of the roof is curved, and cracked. Id like to replace it, hopefully with something more substantial, like aluminum, or whatever, just not plastic or fiberglass.

What is the correct name for this piece and where is a good source for such parts?

I would think you could contact Hallmark directly. You could possibly use the piece as a mold and make it out of fiberglass. A roofing/gutter installer might be able to make an aluminum one for you.

Funny you linked that, he was one of the things I found when looking.

I did look up their page from your post, its not actually called a nose, they call it a Roof Cap. The ones they have are shaped like his, and dont fit mine, they had a different piece that may work, its an aluminum roof cove, which may or may not work in my application, its probably the side edge piece, not the front.

I found some for semi trailers, but wanted to see if there were more cargo trailer specific parts that may be a better fit on my application.

Who are the go-to people for windows and stuff like that?

This trailer probably isnt going to be my long term motorcycle and sidecar hauler/camper build project, but I needed a trailer and the price was right. I want to get it fixed up for hauling furniture and worldly goods and likely as storage for a while as I vacate the flatlands and migrate westward again.

This is what I suggest as you are unlikely to find a replacement. Use the original piece as a mold. Reinforce it, coat it with mold release and then lay up layers of finerglass cloth and resin on it. Trim the fiberglass piece to fit, sand, fill voids, sand again, paint with Rustoleum and install.

I reread his page and your post. I see what you mean about the different sizes and shapes. His is a 2004. What year is yours? They may carry your part, or can fabricate one for you.

If your trailer is much older than a 2004, maybe they don't have the part online in the catalog... but they have it in stock. Only way to find out is to call them.

During your 'not very successful' period, could you seal the crack(s)?
My go-to:
* Vulcum 116.
Vulcum 116:
* fills gaps,
* is colored,
* stays flexible.
After sealing, could you 'file and paint to match'?

Irregardless, your new lid needs edge sealing.
See if Vulcum 116 is a compatible sealer.
