This is not a advertisement for afflac.  But just found out that they have a cancer specific insurance offering, that my estimate is $15 a month.  Covers all expenses including living expenses.  Seems like a good idea if you have a large deductible that only covers hospital.  This would cover all the rest, like monthly cost to park your RV at the nearby RV campground.

Has anyone looked into this in any other context?

There are a lot of hoops to jump through on these cancer policies. So many loopholes to limit payments it's ridiculous. For instance, requiring a biopsy to prove your brain tumor is malignant. If you buy one of these policies and have to use it,have a good attorney.

Alot of folks in the fire service carry aflac policies and among those probably half get the cancer policy. They pay for yearly screenings and for most other things they pay quickly. We often get ridiculed by the salesperson for not submitting enough claims. That's my experience and may not be the same as others in different areas or job settings.

I know that the Good Sam Club also offers a cancer care program but I don't know how it works. Good Sam Club endorses outside companies for such policies. It is always good to google for issues with the different companies.

I've been carrying the AFLAC cancer policy for many years - many family members have had cancer, so it seemed prudent for me to get the policy. Originally got it through a job way back when and just carried it with me afterward.

At one time I had the "personal injury" policy (I tend to stumble-chuckle). Anyway, only had the policy for about a month, was bitten by my son's dog (long story - not dog's fault really, just painful comedy of errors) ... I called AFLAC and they were right on it, covered many things.  So, I sorta support having AFLAC policies for a person's particular issue/concern.  I dropped the personal injury policy down the road ... started picking my feet up and paying attention!
