A raised roof that is... I have been looking around for a high topper to put on campurban, no such luck... A buddy of mine found a tractor trailer front cap off a sleeper unit . He said it would be 50 bucks if the guy still has it, we will have to cut it and re-do some fiberglass but no big deal.  The next thing we have lined up is ….Ok ya ready for this one...sit down have drink and close your eyes and imagine this.... A deep V bottom boat upside down with added port hole windows on the side, might have to split this and weld a piece in if we cant find a wide body .  but What gave us this idea was his neighbor had his boat on his roof of his truck with a camper shell, we both looked and said it can be done.  So now wait for the sleeper cap and look for a wide Deep v bottom aluminum boat.

Why affix it perminently? Mold an inside lip on the roof of the suburban and seal it with the really good double rib foam tape they use on truck toppers. Use 4 draw type locking spring cam latches like on fiberglass jeep tops to hold it down. Install a snap on screen/ cover for when the boat is off. Use a one man lift pole to load and unload the boat or just build a foamie boat that is light enough for one person to handle.

Heck engineer it so you can tip it off the dock so it floats upside down, instant houseboat!

John, that is basically what the boat on the roof will look like. Saw nice deep jon boat that had to be older that had great curves /angles on the front where oblong windows would be cool.

Bullfrog, this boat is going to become one with the burb. paint job to match and so forth . I do like the idea of a screen roof, that would be cool as well.

Great way to get a boat to the lake for recreational opportunities. You could have a dual-purpose roof-boat. A van with a nautical theme!

Your solar set-up may appreciate a flat roof so maybe try seeking a jon boat, the mounting framework prolly will not need to be so heavily modified.
