I like that recipe, it's even easier than the one I already have!

And yes, a mug of chocolate cake is the answer to a chocolate craving.

I use my pyrex measuring cup for a mug because I don't have big coffee mugs.

The recipe I use for mug cake uses an egg, like the author here is disparaging, but even with the spongy texture, the chocolate hit is just as good. I think it's a few less ingredients, too.

BTW, something like this makes a great, quick edible if you are a MMJ patient. Start with infused butter (melted) or oil, follow the recipe, edible medicinal cake in minutes. At 2 tbsp oil/butter per mug cake, high ratio of medicinals ends up in the cake.

And how does one "infuse" the butter or oil ??
I've heard of infused honey, but have no idea how it is done.

That's fine in a house, and maybe in an RV, but if you're in a van very few of us carry those ingredients around and even fewer have a microwave.

I do have a microwave in my van but I'm not going to carry those ingredients around for the few times I'd make it.

I've seen recipes like this using a cake mix, that I would be willing to carry around. It's just one box and I could pour in what I need and save the rest for later.

Does anybody know of a good recipe for baking in a mug using a cake mix? I know they are out there.

I'm one of the very few who would be carrying all the ingredients around...

But then that's because of food intolerances so using the package is a no-no.

I haven't tried either of the two above but when I searched I found 4 or 5 different sites all did the same thing as the Duncan Hines site, in that they mixed the angel food mix with another cake mix.

This and a tub of icing and you're all set!!

NICE!!

I kind'a like the whole dollop of nut-butter, then douse it with heavy cream.

ha ha bob,  I carry all the ingredients but no microwave.  highdesertranger

I just completely rearranged the planned layout for the van and low and behold, I have room for the microwave if I ever want to add one.

My plans are for so much time being spent dependent on battery power that putting in a micro is at the very, very bottom of the list.

But here at home, a one cup chocolate cake keeps me from baking a whole cake. Since I live alone, we all know who would be eating the 'whole cake'...

I just tried the recipe in the OP thanks to having a sticks and bricks neighbor with a microwave. except substituted milk for half and half and used the extra tbsp of sugar. I'm pleased it's much better than the store bought microwavable cakes and brownies I've had.

The real question is could it be made in a solar oven?

I have some black coffee cups and hope to test a few out when I get sun again.
