We've been boondocking in Nevada since mid March. Since Nevada has large areas with low populations it's a fairly safe state. Most of the state is public land so finding boondocking sites is pretty easy. Head higher in elevation for cool temperatures.

Free campsites is great - https://freecampsites.net/#!Nevada&query=region
Set the maps to public lands (map stack on right side) if you want to find your own spots.

Public Land Interpretive Association has good maps too. Be sure to check Land Status so that all of the public land shows. http://publiclands.org/Get-Books-and-Maps.php?plicstate=NV

Thanks for the links! Have you found any camping closures remaining in Nevada?

As far as I know the state parks are open for day use but closed to camping. National forest campgrounds may be opened. We stopped at Ward Mountain Campground 5 days ago when we arrived in this area and found it opened with maybe a dozen people camping there. The fee box wasn't up yet so it was free. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/htnf/recarea/?recid=65536
The website indicates that there are two campsites but since it's been renovated there are between 20 to 30.

We moved on and are dispersed camping just a short distance away because we didn't want to listen to generators.

Maki offered this link to additional dispersed camping in Washington.

NOTE (In mountainous areas so roads may not be open yet, check the road closures, and county status if you want to go to a developed site. County must be a phase two to apply for opening up public areas.)

Crofter,

You said they are ticketing in the four corners area. What are the tickets for? What laws (of which state) are being broken?

Not a rant, just curious about the legal position of whichever state is doing that..

Johnny

Does this have to do with the Navajo Nation?

Duh !

OK, I see your link. Sorry I missed it.

Thanks!

Johnny

It looks like curfew violations are the big issue, and I have read elsewhere that roadblocks are set up to keep outsiders from coming onto reservation land, because of the coronavirus outbreak.

You are apparently allowed to drive thru reservation land, but cannot otherwise stop or stay.

On an aside, I have also read how desperately short of medical care the Navajo reservation is, with little in the way of facilities and supplies for their sprawling area.

Some parts of which have homes without running water, and where Doctors Without Borders has come in to provide services.

The latter I personally find appalling, as it would seem that unmet need should be filled here in this country, with our providers and resources.

Heat advisory in the low desert expect 110 degrees in southern Arizona next week. Ripping wind all day today.  Time to travel to those essential cooler places to camp, some are posted on here.

Wisconsin is open 6/7 for camping. For now. i don't know where you boondock. It was closed due to trash and vandalism before. People stealing hand sanitizer.
