Most of Alaska averages less than 1 hour of insolation (full sun equivalent) a day;  the southern edge has up to 2.  Texas averages about 5 hours.

If you are going to be in Texas or the Southwest I would think 320W would be sufficient. Unless you want to run A/C or something.

Most of my wandering the past year has been in the Mid West/East and my solar has been more than adequate. I also have a VSR so charging whilst running works . But contemplating Alaska next year where a back up genny  could be required. No a/C just fans.

One Year VANNIVERSARY.  Time flies when you're having fun.  We've covered just over 24K miles, averaged 17.8 mpg, had zero mechanical issues and only spent 3 nights outside of the van.  NO REGRETS and no end in sight.  Life is good.

My 5 gallon bucket swivel seat is filled with their food and chews :)

I've made a monthly composite slideshow since moving into the van. Here's number 12, Aug 2017 for those interested. It's just short of 7 minutes long, 164?? pictures. Life is Good.

All I can say to those thinking about full time vanlife is "GET ER DONE" :)

Thought I'd share my last few fuel fill ups... I have the 3.7 L gas motor and this includes lots of mountain, city and non Interstate travel.  In the last year fuel average is 17.8 mpg.  Very satisfied.

This is all that's left of Henry ID except a pretty nice campground and a nice old couple selling some outstanding elk, buffalo and beef jerky.  The stories old buildings could tell.  This is on the NE end of Blackfoot Reservoir.

Friday, when I arrived at Blackfoot Reservoir, the area had over 25 vehicles/RVs parked all along the bank.  Didn't really expect that as it's 29 miles to Soda Springs, 9 of which is gravel.  Seems in addition to being Labor Day Weekend it was also opening weekend for goose season hahaha.  So decided to come back Monday afternoon, which I did, and have the whole place to myself. Elevation 6,068'.  Life is good.

Smoke filled skies in SE Idaho.  Actually starting to smell it and irritating my eyes a bit.  Good chance I'll be leaving tomorrow.  74 active fires out here in the NW states.  I'm located vicinity of the YouTube symbol lower right
