Reba enjoying an evening chew.  Sheba has one too but she went up front for a bit of privacy.  Reba has a tendency to steal hers :)

The metal cup has the girl's food in it.  I hand feed it to them when I eat so I don't feel guilty.   The only time they turn their noses up and refuse to eat it is if I have chicken McNuggets.  They hold out for them.  IMG_5802.JPG

Stopped at a Safeway Grocery in Smithers, BC to pick up some things and it started to storm pretty bad.  Asked the manager if it'd be OK to park and he said , "sure ".  He recommend parking in the middle of the lot as the traffic can be noisy on the edges:)

From here I'll be headed into the mountains and didn't want to take the chance of the rain being snow at the higher elevations.

Hi Bob,

Could you let's me know what the name is, or the location, or GPS coordinates of the truck stop in Teslin you stayed?  Alaska in on my bucket list and I hope I can make it there next year.  I might follow your route and am interested in all the places that I can camp when I go. Also, I'll be driving a compact fwd.  If there is any patch of the road that is too rough for a fwd, could you point it out?  Thank you so much.
Sue

Sue, here's a link to it http://yukonmotel.com/.  You can't miss it, it's right off the highway after you cross the bridge.  As far as 4wd...when I first drove it in 1978, it was a tough unpaved highway.  Now, it's paved all the way and smoother than many interstates in the US.  This is my 4th trip; hope you make yours.

As of the end of May, Coddiwomple (my van) has covered some ground:). Not one single issue since started...oil changes only required maintenance:)

Are you on the ALCAN, Bob?  My folks loved to tell stories about driving it back in the 50's, I hear it's much better, paved and everything, now.   :p

Queen....did any of those stories include grizzly bears? :) That had to be a tough road to break down on back then.
