When I traveled on my Motorcycle to some far off events I equipped the bike with a tank bag and saddle bags.
I would only be on the road a couple days and nights till I got to where I was going where I would be in a building.  What I carried along with me was a  Jungle Hammock and I would find some wooded area just before dark that I could set up in.

These are like a hammock with a tent roof above it and joined together with noseeum's screen netting that zips closed.

Some people call them "sniper hammocks" owing to their WW2 usage.   They can be set up as hammocks or
on the ground like a makeshift tent.   But with this, I could set up and break camp in minutes.

I've even carried it in the small econo car 3 dr hatch back and stayed in State parks with it.  Some of these are Military issue and others are just aftermarket products.  I've seen them with thin canvas roll up's attached so that if it is windy or a blowing rain the side curtains could be dropped and secured to stay dry.

Here's a much newer and lighter version of that!

The tarp is only deployed on the back side for the camera shot!

OH! They're hammocks! At first I thought they were pinatas for bears,,,

Just kidding, I've been intrigued by those since I was a kid and there were ads for them in the Popular Mechanics magazine.

Guy

And the common response to 'piñatas for bears' old joke is that a tent is simply a burrito for bears... :p

THE most comfortable sleep in the great outdoors EVER!!

I quit going interior camping for over 30 years because of the rocky, stick in your butt, cold hard ground. Now with the hammock, I'm up for whenever, wherever interior tripping...well except for in the dead of winter here!!...

Was this your sig?

It really had an impact on me. Thanks for using it.

As a kid I used to drool over the ad's for those Jungle Hammocks.   Often they were copies
of the fabric instruction patch sewn into the hammock.

Artist Renderings always seem to make things seem nicer.

I have a friend that stealth camps in state parks that don't have campgrounds with his jungle hammock , the stealth part is he hangs it up in the trees so the rangers can't see him ! Who looks up ? Skuh kuh kuh kuh
This tactic would probably work well for bears too .

Camping with a chopper, that is very cool, I almost pulled the trigger on an old BMW 69R with big tank then remembered i promised my mother I would never ride a motorcycle while she was alive, her brother died in a motorcycle accident then when she died i was getting too old to do it. I figure if you can't lift a bike why have it.. Happy trails.

Im 60. I just bought a tux250 last week and Im looking at at gear options now. I may go to a bigger bike but I own this one and a years worth of insurance is only 100 bucks:) You could lift it:)I can..:)
