Battery temp sensor/probe

Where and how do I attach the battery sensor probe? I am almost finished with my solar panel installation, but cannot find the instructions for mounting the battery temp probe. It is a male probe about 1 1/2 inches long. Not certain I am using the correct terminology. Thanks!
