When I think of cruises, I think of my friend who went on a cruise with some other friends last year. She had an attack of some kind, the ship infirmary doctor sedated her and intubated her, and the ship stopped at some port in Guatemala where they offloaded (dumped) her. Someone transported her inland to a medical place where no one spoke English. They gave her paper/pen on a clipboard but she was shaking so bad she couldn't write. They left the tube in, and also sedated her... for two weeks. Whenever she regained consciousness, all she could think was, "Doug will find me, Doug will find me".
I'll camp in a van on public land, thank you very much. I don't have a Doug who will track me down, contact an air medical service ($25,000 cash deposit required), and meet me at the local hospital when I get home.
You see? Being poor does have advantages.
