I live in the Toronto area, and find that most of the Get Together Groups are in the west, and not really accessible to me except maybe once a year. I can be in Port Huron, MI, or Watertown, NY in 3 hours, or Buffalo, NY in 1.5 hrs. Are there any of you awesome ladies out there who would like to create a GTG group? Anywhere in the Great lakes, St. Lawrence River, or midwest areas should be fairly central. It would be so nice to be able to meet for long weekends, or mid-week GTG's for us retired girls. The beautiful fall weather is coming, and it would be really nice to have something to look forward to!

Hi nancy. Somehow I missed this post. I would love to do that. I had talked to one other lady from this group about this possibility. I really want to go to winter rtr in az but...I think gas would cost me around 1000 - 1400 depending on prices and which vehicle I would drive. Yes yes lets plan one. Probably too late this year? Maybe not. What do people think? I think it would be worthwhile even if just a couple of us can come. Would be good practice for us newbies. Plus I would love to meet you and many others here. I am in sw mi but wouldn't mind driving somewhere. Nora

HI Nora:

I figured with the new baby and everything, that you'd eventually get back to reading and posting on here. I know there's a lady who lives in Lansing who would be interested in getting together. Maybe somewhere around Port Huron would be halfway for both of us.

There's no rush to actually camp out. WE could still meet, and maybe stay in a Red Roof Inn for one night, and camp out for the second night, or we could stay in a campground so we're not having to completely rough it for the first time. I can come mid-week or on the weekends.

What do you think?

Port huron or anywhere would be fine. Campground is fine or motel. If the lady in lansing would want to car pool I have to drive through lansing to get to port huron. I can do weekend or day after the first week in sept. Got to get kids back in school. Yeah nora

I just checked the price for Red Roof Inns and they've really gone up since I last stayed a few years ago! The lady in Lansing lives in her van, so I'm sure you could meet up somewhere in the area, and drive together to Port Huron. Now we just need to know of a good campground in PH. Can you research that?

Hi everyone. I checked into state campgrounds and depeding on where the average cost is about 25 $ plus a 7 $ a day per vehicle. Those that are thinking of coming-do you want electricity hookups, bathrooms/showers? We could boondock in my yard but we are 20 miles west of kalamazoo. Has anyone used the free boondocking website? Maybe we could use someone's place from that site for free? Nora oh I have firewood I can bri g if we are in a place that allows campfires.

HI Nora:

I'd be happy to boondock in your back yard, if you have electricity I can hook up to for my CPAP machine. I can do without showers, and I can bring a luggable loo and sleep in my car.

I'd like to go on to the Cabela's in Grandville to pick up that solar powered battery pack for my CPAP, but it has to be charged for 5 hours before I can use it.

Thanks for looking into the parks for us. Your back yard sounds better

Yes we could set you up with extension cord. Also could use our restroom. Anyone else want to come? We are 20 miles west of kalamazoo on 43 near bangor mi. About 50 miles north of michigan city indiana. Has anyone used the boondockers welcome website? It costs 20 $ per year but people all over the country sign up and people can use their property to boondock on. If people want another area besides sw mi I can look into other places. On this site you can also register to let others boondock on your property. Anyone else interested? Nora

That would be wonderful Nora. Electricity AND the use of a restroom? It'll be like staying at a resort, compared to true boondocking!

I can't join the boondockers web site that you mentioned, as I live in a condo and wouldn't be able to reciprocate with other travelers. It might work out for you though. Do you have your camping gear, or how would you be traveling to these other places? I can't remember if you already have an RV or not.

You're the best!

Hi All;

I don't live there anymore but was born in St. Thomas and am kind of thinking of doing across Canada (again *smile*) next summer. If I bring my ID can I come? I can probably find space around Georgian Bay if anyone wanted to go that far up...

Right now I'm in Florida but take heart...its chilly out this evening, jeans and a sweatshirt and I'm still wimping!

Joni

Did this meet up ever happen?

I'll be taking a northern route when I head west, this year. I'd love to catch up with others, en route. No passport, this time going across so I won't be able to venture into Canada. Next year, though!

Cyndi, We would be interested in a midwest group to trek out west. We are planning to attend the RTR out west in January and would love to have some company in our travel. We will be starting out from Ohio.

Hi Janncoo! I'll be leaving New England in early October and will be traveling through Ohio. Perhaps we can meet up? I'll be heading northwest before I head south so traveling together may not be an option. I plan on taking about 3 months to get to Quartzsite.

I know we have at least a couple of Ohians (Ohioians?) and a few more Midwesterners. Maybe we can arrange a little meet up?

Hi cyndi and Janncoo! We'll be traveling west in October too, heading to Chicago and down Route 66. We travel so much slower than most people so traveling together probably won't work but we'd love to met somewhere along the way.

Cyndi - stopping at your place is still on our agenda - most likely mid September.

We're heading in New Brunswick, Canada today so we won't have much access to the internet. I'll check back when I get a chance.

Hello cyndi and tonyandkaren. I hope at some point our paths will cross. We will be traveling to South Carolina in October. We are planning our first adventure in the west to be at the RTR in Quartszite. It certainly would be nice to have a midwest group to gather with. This site offers so much to unexperienced travelers. Be safe in your travels.
