Looking for boondock sites in W Va. GWN sounds interesting.
 
on the eastern side&nbsp;of Wva.&nbsp; 133/33 ??&nbsp;i think it is--north west out of Harrisonburg-VA,-free spots on the side of the road,National Forest.,been years..been there.<br />old rt 60 Hawks nest.might allow sleep over,&nbsp;also Check out some counry Fairgrounds. free or a few $$.
 
Jerry, glad you are checking out the site i sent you. Lots of free camping in GWNF. Trish and i had a spot picked out during our easter trip, but couldnt stay at our chosen spot due to forest fires at the time. ( check out captians logs, easter trip), so you may want to call ahead to the ranger station to be sure the area you want is , um, err, "useable" We origionaly headed for "The Pines ( free/primitave) but wound up in "steel bridge"( free/primative). There is also plenty of camping in the Jefferson NF, right across the valley.
 
Thanks Les. Looked over information for the Hawk campground and it had a warning for RVs. Shouldn't bother us unless there are low hanging limbs on the road in lol
