Thanks! That should help me out once I decide to jump into it. I already love to forage mushrooms and other edibles so now I can look for rocks too!

No. The rounded stones are called cab'ed or a cabochon cut. This is best for opaque or semi-translucent stones. The more transparent stones are best faceted. Both should be professionally done as it greatly affects their value. True it costs a little money but look at it as an investment.
