If you can get to a Grocery Store that sells fresh Herbs,  look and see if you can get some fresh Mint.   I was reading in Dr. Bader's Pest Cures: Natural Solutions for things that BUG you.   He indicates that there are many kinds of ants,  but overall they don't like Mint.

I believe you about MINT! I tried the peppermint oil, soap, and water spray and the ants have been reduced by 80-90%! Amazing! There's actually wild mint growing about 50 feet from our rig. Maybe I can transplant some.  ;)

I second the diatomaceous earth for inside and Amdro and sevin dust for outside, and check all your electrical connections. I don't know where you are, but fire ants will mess up your electrical. I used to have to replace my well pump controller about every 6 months. They like the warmth, and they carry dirt and water up into the circuits and short them out.

Thankfully they're just regular little brown ants. We're in Ontario, Canada so no fire ants!

First of all, except for fire ants, ants aren't harmful to humans.

Well, I got tagged by a Bullet Ant in Nicaragua. It's pretty easy to tell how they got their name.   :exclamation:

But yes, other than getting into stuff you don't want them in, ants are harmless.

Glad to hear it is working for you. Seems to keep most bugs out of my S&B. The exception being Boxelder bugs.

Lots of good ideas to repel ants so far.
The problem seems to be not everything works on every type of ant ! Except the flame thrower option.

HDR (stupid moderator?)you know the rules . If you want to talk about getting rid of uncles start an uncles thread........ ;)
I can't wait for the posts on that one !

(You're welcome to use the 'You Ain't Right" thread)
